What exactly is KROO?
KROO is a free mobile app for organising amateur sport — the weekly five-a-side, the Sunday basketball run, volleyball, tennis, padel, a running club, a cycling club. It finds players near you, tracks exactly who's coming to each session, splits balanced teams automatically from blind teammate ratings, and keeps a permanent record of your stats, win rate and streaks. It's a sports app; it has nothing to do with Kroo the UK bank.
Which sports does KROO support?
Seven — football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, padel, running clubs and cycling clubs — and the app reshapes itself around whichever one you pick. Each sport brings its own positions, squad size, scoring format and stat sheet: goals and assists for football, points and rebounds for basketball, kills and aces for volleyball, sets and games for tennis and padel, distance and pace for running and cycling.
Why not just organise the game on WhatsApp?
Because a group chat can't do the four things that actually decide whether the game is any good. It can't introduce you to players you don't already know in person. It can't give you a reliable headcount — "in", "+1" and "maybe" scattered across 200 messages is not a roster. It can't balance the teams, so one person picks and everyone quietly suspects the split. And it has never once recorded a stat you earned. Keep the chat for the banter; give the game to KROO.
Is KROO free to use?
Yes — free to download and free to play. Organising matches, live attendance, Kroo Balance, blind ratings, your full stats history, leaderboards and reminders all cost nothing, and that isn't going to change. There are no ads. To be upfront: we do plan an optional paid subscription later, aimed at teams and clubs that want extra tools on top. Everything in the free tier stays free whether or not anyone takes it.
How is my rating actually calculated?
Your rating is a weighted average of blind ratings from the teammates you've actually played with. Ratings are blind both ways — nobody can see who scored them, including you. Play more matches and your number becomes a real reflection of your form, not one bad Tuesday. It's also what Kroo Balance uses to keep squads fair.
What happens if I haven't been rated yet?
You show up as Unrated — KROO never assumes a default score for a player nobody has rated yet. Once you've played and been rated in real matches, Kroo Balance can place you accurately.
Can I book and pay for a pitch inside the app?
Not yet — in-app pitch booking and payments are in development and coming soon, together with our first pitch partners.
Which countries and languages does KROO support?
KROO works anywhere you set as your country in your profile — it surfaces players, teams, and pitches near you wherever that is. The app runs fully in English or Hebrew, with a genuine right-to-left layout, not a patched-on approximation. See the Hebrew version of this page.
Is KROO on iOS and Android?
Both are planned. KROO is currently in private beta — App Store and Google Play links go live here at public launch.
